Meet some of Cheyenne’s departed famous and infamous characters during the Cheyenne Genealogical & Historical society’s annual Lakeview Cemetery Walk, “Tiptoe Through the Tombstones,” on Friday, August 11, 2017. The walk will start promptly at 9:30 a.m. and participants are encouraged to arrive about 9 a.m. This living history presentation begins at the main gate of Lakeview Cemetery off Seymour Avenue and features a number of interesting characters who played large and small parts in Cheyenne’s frontier history. They are portrayed in costume by members of the Cheyenne Genealogical & Historical Society. Walkers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes and sun protection, and bring drinking water if desired. The cemetery and the Cheyenne City golf course will provide a limited number of golf carts for those who may not be able to walk for the entire two-hour narrated tour. All the proceeds will be used to purchase books for the Special Collections Room of the Laramie County Library.
