The Cheyenne Regional Foundation invites you to celebrate our hospital’s rich western heritage and to also enjoy an evening of western-themed food, fun and live entertainment at the Foundation’s “Western Connection.”
The Western Connection will serve to kick off the Foundation’s 150 days of giving campaign, focused on raising funds to help Wyoming PACE (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly) move into a new facility.
Wyoming PACE is a service of Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and is the only program of its kind in Wyoming. Wyoming PACE is currently housed on the first floor of the 20th Street Cheyenne Regional Health Plaza but needs additional space to continue to expand.
Evening Begins with Trolley Ride to Depot
The Western Connection will begin with a trolley ride from CRMC to the Cheyenne Depot Museum, where Union Pacific officials will host a re-enactment of the famous Golden Spike ceremony. The ceremony took place when the Union Pacific and Central Pacific railways were officially joined to form the first U.S. transcontinental railway. The ceremony took place on May 10, 1869, in Utah Territory. The completion of the transcontinental railroad is considered to be a pivotal time in American history, helping to advance transportation, trade and communication across the nation. Cheyenne was one of the key stops along the transcontinental railway, and the city’s history and development—including that of CRMC—are closely affiliated with that of the railroad.
At the Depot, guests will continue their journey back in time as they mingle with cowboys and saloon gals from the Old West and watch live performances by the Cheyenne Gunslingers. In keeping with the evening’s theme, western-themed cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
Evening Continues with Dinner, Auction and Entertainment at CRMC
From the Depot, guests will take a trolley back to CRMC, where they will enjoy a buffet dinner, live entertainment, silent auction and historical highlights focusing on CRMC’s 150-year heritage and connection to Union Pacific Railroad.
