First Cheyenne Federal Credit Union is Wyoming's oldest credit union.
The credit union was originally chartered in 1935 to serve the Veteran's Administration Hospital in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1997 our name was changed from Cheyenne VAF to First Cheyenne Federal Credit Union to more accurately describe our new mission and the fact that we were the first credit union in Cheyenne.
In January 2002, we became a Community Charter Credit Union with a membership that is open to everyone that lives, works, worships or attends school in Laramie County, Wyoming.
We are not a Bank or Savings and Loan. We are a Credit Union. The Credit Union is a member owned, not-for-profit, financial cooperative, meeting the needs of our members. We are owned and controlled by our members. Our Board of Directors is elected from within our membership and those individuals serve in a volunteer capacity. Volunteer leadership has always been a fundamental component of the Credit Union Movement.
As a full service financial institution, we are dedicated to serving and meeting the needs of our members and our community.
